Equality: a Platfform for all
Mental health is a universal human experience. Here’s what we’re doing to be an organisation for all.
Equality, diversity and inclusion at Platfform
No charity that works to contribute to people’s wellbeing can do so effectively if they do not participate in calling out prejudices that strip people of identity, dignity, and agency.
In our Manifesto for Change we call for a holistic and social justice approach to mental health. We understand that our mental health is largely determined by our circumstances. This means that we understand social injustice is a root cause of poor mental health.
At the same time, we are working to be a trauma informed and relationally healthy organisation. We see equality, diversity and inclusion sitting within our broader mission to be relationally healthy which means paying attention to how power operates in our systems and in our relationships.
We are working to be effective allies in the fight against racism, discrimination, and inequality at all levels of society. We also recognise that we have a lot to do inside Platfform, and have committed to co-create an ongoing plan with Platfform colleagues. This approach will help us to continually educate ourselves, to challenge our own bias, and to make a genuine contribution to a more equal Wales.
We are also working with partner organisations, such as Diverse Cymru, to make sure that we’re getting this right.
