Celebrating courage, solidarity and community

We build connections and work with others, so that Wales is a welcoming community for those who find themselves without safety or shelter. Together we thrive.

It was our privilege to support the Welsh Refugee Council‘s Nation of Sanctuary Awards 2025.

We know through our work that things that affect our mental health significantly are injustice, adversity, poverty and trauma. In the current climate of division and conflict affecting us at home and the wider world, we need to stand together in solidarity.

We build connections and work with organisations like the Welsh Refugee Council, so that Wales can be a welcoming place for those who find themselves without safety or shelter. Our recent report, A Heart of Helpon which we worked on together, contains the stories that speak of the reality of the situations experienced by the people seeking sanctuary in Wales.

“…a little bit of compassion and a little bit of empathy – generally that makes a person wanna stay”

And we will continue our work together through adapting Trauma-Informed Practice, Skills and Strategies for people working with refugees and those seeking sanctuary and asylum.

At Platfform we are intentional about how we use the voice and influence we have, and communicate with heart, purpose and humanity. The language we choose is seeking connection, respecting people’s identity, dignity, and agency. This is why the Language Learner Award which we supported carried a special meaning. We were inspired by amazing contributions of people nominated for the Award. A testimony of how language learning has positively impacted their connection with the community and access to opportunities.

And together we thrive.

Meet the 2025 Nation of Sanctuary Award winners. Congratulations all!
