Following yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling, we want to restate our unequivocal solidarity with our trans friends, colleagues and wider community.

We are deeply concerned about the impact of this ruling on trans people and what it will mean for people’s sense of identity, safety and belonging.

We know people are feeling hurt, frightened, angry and disappointed.

It’s important to remember the ruling confirmed trans people’s continued protection under the Equality Act, but we also know it’s implications will extend beyond legal definitions.

Feeling and being safe, connection to others and belonging are fundamental to being able to live a fulfilled life. Narratives can polarise and make it difficult for us to see real people and real lives.

Platfform’s values and beliefs are based on shared humanity, mutual respect, and in seeing beyond rhetoric, labels and narratives. We stand alongside the trans community, and will continue to champion the right for everyone to be treated with dignity, respect and be their authentic selves without fear of judgement and harm.
