Dementia support
Our dementia support projects have been rebranded to Effro. At Effro, we support people living with dementia to lead fulfilling lives based on experiences that awaken their senses, and activities that spark real joy.
Dementia support and training
Effro is Platfform’s dementia project, providing group activities and one-to-one support for people living with dementia, as well as training and mentoring opportunities for those offering support and care.
Effro draws from Platfform’s approach to mental health, which is based on the principle that we are all individual, and that we each have strengths and abilities that we can use to create positive change in our lives.

For living well with dementia
Many dementia charities and organisations only focus on the practical or medical needs of the people they work with. At Effro, we believe there’s more that can be done; that recognising the needs, preferences and individuality of each person creates opportunities for a better life.
Through this approach, we work with people to explore the things that interest them, that bring fascination or excitement, and that add to a life joyfully lived.
The work we do with people living with dementia includes activity sessions in any residential setting, one-to-one support, liaison and guidance, and new ways and ideas to reignite passions and stir positive memories.
For the support you give
Effro offers training, guidance and advice for anyone who provides care to someone living with dementia.
Our support programme for carers is delivered in partnership with our talking therapy service, Breathe, and provides a mix of practical and emotional support. Effro training, for carers and family members, covers a range of topics focused on providing support in a compassionate and life-enhancing way.
Our team also act as volunteers for Alzheimer’s Society in order to deliver Dementia Friends information sessions: hour-long events that provide information and advice about dementia.
