Two year grant awarded to develop and deliver volunteer strategy

Platfform’s Employment Team has been awarded a two year grant by the Volunteer Wales Main Grant, allowing substantial investment in their community volunteering projects, which provide crucial support for the communities across Gwent and Caerphilly.

Our Employment Team’s recent application to the Volunteer Wales Main Grant has been successful, securing a substantial two year grant to invest in their community projects which is a huge boost for both the team and the people they support.

The grant, co-ordinated by the WCVA, will play a key role in strengthening and expanding the team’s volunteering offering. This not only means that they’ll be in a stronger position to increase volunteer engagement, but the funding will make it much easier for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in their volunteering activities.

The Volunteer Wales Main Grant supports the development of high-quality, positive volunteering opportunities that focus on effective recruitment, support, and training.

Most importantly, the grant will help our teams across Gwent and Caerphilly to embed volunteering more deeply into Platfform’s culture, ensuring it remains a core part of who we are and how we work.

The grant means we will be able to deliver and develop our Volunteer Strategy, enhancing volunteering opportunities across Caerphilly and extending our reach across the wider Gwent area.

Julie Rees, Head of Employability Services at Platfform, commented: “We are thrilled to have successfully secured this grant and we are so grateful to the WCVA, Volunteering Wales and the Welsh Government for their support. It means we will be able to deliver and develop our Volunteer Strategy, enhancing volunteering opportunities across Caerphilly and extending our reach across the wider Gwent area.

It will also enable us to better recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions of our volunteers, whose dedication continues to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.

We look forward to building on this momentum and creating even more inclusive and impactful volunteering opportunities.”

Volunteering brings people together to share or learn new skills, and build confidence along the way to improve mental health.

Volunteering is a key part in many communities and organisations – bringing people together to share or learn new skills, and building confidence along the way to improve mental health.

The team’s successful Perfect Fit and Taraggan Educational Gardens projects, are both run from the Bargoed Community Centre and offer volunteering opportunities for people in the local community and beyond.
